Message from the Principal

In April 1936 (Shōwa 11), Oike Elementary School was established as Kokumei Third Elementary School (Kokumei Daisan Jinjō Shōgakkō) with great hopes of the local community.  As the name “Oike” suggests, a large pond was reclaimed, and above it, the first all steel buildings and auditorium in Osaka Prefecture were constructed.

With the enforcement of the city system in October of the same year, the area officially became Toyonaka City, and the school began its journey alongside the city.  In 1941 (Shōwa 16), it became Toyonaka Municipal Oike National Elementary School (Toyonaka-shi Oike Kokumingakkō), and in 1947 (Shōwa 22), it was renamed Toyonaka Municipal Oike Elementary School (Toyonaka-shi Oike Shōgakkō).  Now in its 89th year, the school continues to grow in close connection with the local community.

Oike Elementary School advocates “fostering children who seek and learn” as the educational goal.  Looking at the fact that society is rapidly changing and becoming more unpredictable, we aim to further develop the potential of each individual and nurture the qualities and abilities necessary for this new era. We also envision “children who learn with initiative, communicate and collaborate with friends to find solutions,” “children who are considerate and respect themselves and others,” and “children who lead healthy and cheerful lives and cherish ‘life’ itself.”

As we raise children, it is often said that “people cannot grow without connections between people.”  It is also said that “connections” enrich the learning and development environment for children.  The Oike school district has a culture and environment in which the school and the community can “see each other’s faces” and strive to raise children together community-wide.

In order to create “a school where children can look forward to tomorrow,” we believe it is important for the school, families and the community to be connected and support the potential of children as “a cheering group for the children’s future.”

We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and cooperation from parents and the local community throughout this school year as well.

Reiwa 7 (2025), April
