< Greetings from the School Principal >

Shinden Elementary School has made 150 years’ track on history since the foundation in the year following the beginning of the school system in the early Meiji period. In the meantime, our society has been changing every moment and we now face a new age of IoT.

Changes of the times has been spreading to our school education and making major changes. From now on, I think that we faculty staff need to promote education based on the goals that concretely show our children’s vision. That is, we should clarify what they should learn, what kind of power they should get, what kind of people they should become. In addition, I feel it is also necessary to enhance an education of the mind because we are now in IoT society.

Nowadays, various problems which cannot be solved by only one country have happened on the earth, and our children who live in this era will have to handle these challenges they face. In this time background, we have joined the UNESCO ASPnet since 2009 and promoted ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) of the principle.

We would like to aim to provide children with an environment where they can learn actively by promoting our “Four Pillars of Learning (Shinden edition)” which we expansively establish on the basis of UNESCO's Four "Pillars of Learning" (i.e. "Learning to know", "Learning to do", "Learning to live together", " Learning to be").

We would appreciate your continued support of our educational activities.

Noriko Ake, Principal
